Inspiration…the best place to begin!

I have wanted to start a blog for some time.
A place where I can share my love of all things sewing for my family. This weekend was just the inspiration I needed. My dear mother asked if we should start a blog…I am sure she will be a guest from time to time as many of the qualities I love in children’s clothes I do not do…IE Smocking and hand embroidery.
Over the weekend my mother and I took a wonderful trip to a small town in South Georgia for a visit to a darling sewing shop in Hahira. Sew Blessed Fabric and Sewing shop was our destination. Did I mention they are Viking dealers and they have a web site
www.sewblessedfabric.com. The ladies there are very helpful as well as inspirational. They are always willing to teach, guide and suggest. I picked up some wonderful patterns, some new and a few that are now discontinued or out of print. I also picked up a few pieces of fabric to start off my fall sewing.

Here’s what I got: Most of my trips are not this extensive. I only shop like this a couple times a year.
Baby weight cord in lots of different colors, for jumpers, pants and skirts
Bright pink piqué I just love this stuff
Light gray twill for pants and skirts
A stack of floral prints for tops, jumpers and dresses
Some chevrons…this is going to be fun!
Pink with white polk-a-dots
CC Rose, Louise, Isabella
Oliver + S after school shirt and pants, class picnic blouse and shorts,
Maja’s Christi #230

Here’s my plan for fall sewing:
1st I plan to participate in the wonderful sew for an hour a day for one week project. I will grab a button as soon as I see one.
2nd here are a few of the thing I plan to make for my wonderful Miss N
A. Gray ruffle butt pants, base pattern CC Abby, with added ruffles here and there.

B: Pink and gray flower print top using Oliver + S Puppet show (discontinued)
C: Pink and green chevron dress with pink, white and lime accents using CC Rose This will be an alternate to the traditional red and green for the holidays

D: Something funky, a top made from stripes with guitar appliqués to be worn with the gray pants, fun for wearing to all of Mr I’s recitals.

3ed I plan to try my hand at sewing with knit…
There are others 13 in total I will post as the list shrinks
